THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE TRUCKS

Kustom RC Truckz began in August 2010 as a small hobby project. We were passionate about building custom radio controlled trucks and solving the problem of unavailable parts by creating them ourselves. In the early days, we built complete trucks, trailer units, and custom light looms from scratch.

In 2013, we embraced 3D printing, turning our hand-built suzzie mounts into our first printed parts. This step opened the door to new possibilities. By 2015, working alongside a skilled 3D artist allowed us to develop our growing range of cab kits, focusing on the classic trucks of yesteryear while also adding modern designs.

In 2016, we shifted our focus from full truck builds to parts production, allowing us to concentrate on refining and expanding our kit range. Today, every kit we sell is designed and printed in-house to meet the highest quality standards.

We have deep experience with Tamiya trucks, model building, 3D printing, and design. We aim to include as much as possible in our cab kits so that customers get maximum value and minimal hassle. We continue to innovate and expand our range, and we always welcome enquiries for new ideas or special requests.

MEET THE TEAM

Ed Cleasby

Ed is the founder of Kustom RC Truckz and the driving force behind every kit and custom part we produce. His passion for trucks started in childhood, where he spent countless hours sketching designs, tinkering with model kits, and eventually hand-building detailed scale trucks from scratch. One of his earliest builds was a fully detailed wooden replica, which set the standard for his focus on craftsmanship and accuracy.

When 3D printing became accessible in 2013, Ed seized the opportunity to merge his mechanical skills with cutting-edge technology. Over the years, he has honed his expertise with both filament and resin printers, mastering the art of producing parts that are not only precise but also durable. His hands-on involvement in every stage of the process ensures each customer receives a product that meets the high standards Kustom RC Truckz is known for.

Ed continues to lead the design and production process, pushing innovation while staying true to the classic truck styles that inspire so many enthusiasts. For him, every build is more than just a project, it’s a chance to create something that will be appreciated and enjoyed for years.

Mike Cleasby

Mike, co-founder of Kustom RC Truckz, brings decades of real-world experience in the trucking industry. As both a professional truck driver and fleet engineer, he has an in-depth understanding of how trucks work in practice, which directly influences the authenticity of our kits and parts.

In the early days of the business, Mike developed popular working suzzies and created custom wiring looms that became favourites among our customers. His ability to merge functional design with realistic detailing ensures that our kits are not only visually accurate but also technically impressive.

Mike’s focus today is on refining designs, testing components, and providing practical input that keeps our products as close to the real thing as possible. His background ensures that when you buy from Kustom RC Truckz, you’re getting products built with the insight of someone who truly knows trucks inside and out.

Hazel Cleasby

Hazel is the organisational backbone of Kustom RC Truckz, overseeing the day-to-day running of the business. From managing orders and customer communications to coordinating schedules and logistics, Hazel ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Her role also extends to quality control, ensuring every order leaves the workshop exactly as promised. She takes pride in delivering a professional, efficient service to customers, whether they’re ordering a single part or commissioning a full custom kit.

Hazel’s approach is straightforward and customer-focused. She understands that enthusiasts put their trust in us for high-quality products and timely delivery, and she works tirelessly to make sure we meet and exceed those expectations. She is the friendly, reliable point of contact who keeps the whole operation ticking.

MEET THE ARTISTS

Peter Holton

Peter teamed up with Kustom RC Truckz in 2015 as a skilled 3D artist. With a background in creating detailed models for the gaming industry, he brought with him a sharp eye for proportion, detail, and realism. His work has been a game changer for our cab kit designs, allowing us to recreate both classic and modern trucks with precision.

Every design Peter produces is based on extensive research, often using original photographs, technical drawings, and input from Ed and Mike to ensure historical and mechanical accuracy. His attention to detail ensures every rivet, curve, and panel line is placed exactly where it should be.

Peter’s creative skill and technical knowledge have played a huge part in expanding our range, and his designs form the backbone of what we offer today. His work is for enthusiasts who want models that look and feel like the real trucks they represent.

Madaras Alexandru Vlad

Madaras is the newest addition to the team of artists we work with. Based in Maramureș, Romania, he has more than 15 years of experience in design, working across a wide range of creative projects. His skill covers everything from general product design to highly detailed truck cab kits, where his precision and vision really stand out.

His approach to design combines practical knowledge with creativity. Each project benefits from his ability to refine details and deliver work that is both accurate and visually striking. Whether he is developing a new cab kit or contributing to other designs, he focuses on proportion, fit and realism.

He draws on years of experience to make sure every element feels authentic. By blending technical understanding with a strong design sense, he helps us push our kits to a higher standard. His input brings fresh energy to the team and strengthens the range we can offer enthusiasts who want designs that match the look and spirit of real trucks.
