RC Trucks So Good, They’re Worth Waiting For

I’m Ed, and I started Kustom RC Truckz with my dad back in August 2010. Like many in this game, we began as hobbyists, building custom RC trucks from scratch. If we couldn’t find a part, we made it ourselves. Full builds, trailer units, custom light looms, we did it all.

By 2013, we added 3D printing to the mix. Our scratch built suzie mounts were the first parts to go digital, and that opened the door to something bigger. In 2015, we teamed up with Peter, our 3D artist, helping us take things to another level with detailed cab kits. We focus mainly on classic trucks but have added some modern kits too.

In 2016, we shifted fully into high quality 3D printed parts, leaving full truck builds behind.
Although she has always been there in the background doing admin work my wife Hazel has also been doing more with regards to the admin, customer contact and social media in the last few years.

Today, we design and print everything in house. Our cab kits are built from real world experience, from Tamiya trucks to fully custom builds. We include as much as possible in every kit because we know what you expect.

We’re always improving and adding to the range. If there’s something you want that we don’t yet offer, just get in touch.
Thanks for stopping by and for your patience.

These trucks really are worth the wait.

Wayne Bell – Building for Fun and Detail

Wayne is based in Illinois, USA and first got in touch with us through Facebook. He’s been a loyal customer since before 2020 and has steadily built up a collection of over seven custom pieces from Kustom RC Truckz. Wayne builds RC trucks purely for the enjoyment and personal satisfaction they bring. Each project is a chance to focus on the details, enjoy the process and end up with something he’s proud to display. His commitment to quality and appreciation for accuracy and realism make him the kind of builder we love working with.

He’s never rushed, always focused on getting things just right and values the care and craftsmanship that goes into every part. It’s been a pleasure supporting Wayne’s builds over the years and we’re always excited to see what he takes on next.

When it comes to getting custom cabs for RC trucks, there’s only one person I trust, Ed at Kustom RC Truckz. I’ve tried other places, but nothing comes close to the quality, detail and consistency Ed delivers every time. Each cab fits perfectly, looks great and shows real craftsmanship. No rough edges, no shortcuts, just well made, properly finished parts built to last.

The trailer he built for me was a standout. I’d been searching for ages and nothing quite matched what I wanted. Ed listened, asked the right questions and delivered something better than I expected. Strong, accurate and finished to a high standard it gets attention wherever I take it.

Even with me being in the US, shipping has never been an issue. Everything arrives well packed and in great shape, and turnaround times have always been fair. Ed’s also easy to deal with. Friendly, honest and always willing to help. That kind of service matters, and it’s why I keep coming back.

Kustom RC Truckz is the only place I go for my builds.

Ian Gee – From Small Parts to Full Cabs

Ian lives in the UK near Heathrow Airport and has been a valued customer since 2022. Originally a hobbyist focusing on smaller RC truck parts, Ian recently took the next step and ordered his first full cab kit from us. A retired aircraft engineer, Ian brings a keen eye for precision and craftsmanship to his builds. His technical background shines through in the attention to detail he applies to every project.

He enjoys the challenge and satisfaction that comes from assembling and customising high quality RC trucks and we’re proud to support his passion as he expands his collection.

So far from Kustom RC Truckz I have bought a tanker trailer and a Foden S21 cab kit. The reason I bought this particular cab kit is as when I was 7 years of age I used to have a yard near me and I used to see those lorries come in and out everyday. When I received the cab from Ed it was a first class job, I didn’t need to do any preparation other than prime and paint, same with the tanker.

The quality is excellent! The reason I say this particularly is because I previously bought a cab from another company (who has since gone bust). When I recieved a cab from them it was supposed to be fine printed but I ended up spending hours and hours rubbing it down to make it look any good. Ed’s cabs in comparison arrive ready for painting with very little work to do on them at all. They are unbelievable quality and second to none. The reason why they may take a bit longer from Ed is due to this quality.

Why Choose Kustom RC Truckz

At Kustom RC Truckz we take pride in doing things properly.
We do not rush designs or cut corners. Every part we offer has been shaped by years of hands on experience, trial and error and honest feedback from real builders.
Our focus is on quality, fit and realism, so you get parts that make your build better, not harder.
We know our customers are serious about what they do and we work to match that level of care and attention.
Whether you are just starting out or have a fleet of trucks already, we aim to give you parts you can rely on, backed by service that actually helps.

Built for 1/14 Scale

We stick to proper 1/14 scale so everything looks right and fits together as it should. You won’t get odd proportions or oversized parts here. Every cab kit is designed to match the real trucks as closely as possible down to the size shape and stance. We only use highly detailed 3D artwork that meets our high standards.

100 Percent 3D Printed In House

We do all our 3D printing in house, which gives us full control over how each part turns out. We do not outsource so we can spot issues early make improvements fast and keep quality consistent across everything we sell. We use top quality materials and resin mixes to create the smoothest possible prints which are cleaned so that they are out of the box ready.

Complete Cab Kits with No Gaps

Our kits are sold as complete as possible. You will not find yourself halfway through a build only to realise key parts are missing. We include what you need up front clearly listed and keep everything as accurate and detailed as we can without overcomplicating the build.

Tested and Refined

We test every design ourselves on real builds before it ever goes on sale. That means we catch fit issues check proportions and adjust small details that others might overlook. What you get has already been through trial and error to make sure it works right out of the box and fits together properly.

Made by Enthusiasts Not a Factory

This is not mass production. We have been in the hobby for years and build RC trucks for fun not just business. We know what makes a satisfying build because we have done it the hard way ourselves. When you buy from us you are buying from people who get it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a quick question? You’re not the only one. We get a lot of the same questions from people looking to buy their first kit, upgrade a build or figure out what works with what. This section covers the most common things people ask us from how our kits fit onto Tamiya chassis to what is included in an order.

We keep things simple and aim to make the whole process easy to understand, even if you are new to the scene. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, just drop us a message. We are always happy to help and will get back to you as soon as we can.

All our parts are 3D printed to order. They are highly detailed and the kits themselves are made to look realistic and therefore have many parts which take time to print and are then finished to a high standard. We pride ourselves on quality so jobs are not rushed to get them out of the door quickly but are ensured to fit without defect with a good finish.

Time and materials. There are 2 sayings that explain this well.

  • Garbage in garbage out – to meet our high quality standard we only use good quality materials.
  • Time is money – to get the smoothness and finish that we provide we have to spend time prepping, sanding and cleaning which all makes a difference to the finished product.

If you want the quality that we provide then stringent processes and expertise are needed.

Our products do require modelling skill, they are not for the novice builder. That being said, once you have some general knowledge of how to modify the trucks (including drilling, tapping and screwing) and some common sense, then using our parts shouldn’t be a headache. We do offer built in support with our products and are willing to offer free video calls to help you with your build.

Our products are well packaged, however accidents can happen and should any part arrive damaged then we would request photographic evidence and then will endeavour to replace said part as soon as possible. Please be aware that re-printing parts can still take time and is not instant.

The upfront deposit is requested to cover this. If you change your mind prior to the printing being started we can discuss and look into any changes to the job. Once printing has started the deposit becomes non-refundable and the job cannot be changed.

The upfront deposit becomes non refundable once we have contacted you to advise that printing has been started. Before this point cancellation is possible and we will endeavour to offer you a full refund assuming there are no specialist costs that may need to be covered (purchasing of specific materials, special design costs etc.).

Order Process Overview

We keep things simple and clear. Here’s how your order moves from idea to finished product.

  • Customer specifies their precise requirements and a quote is then provided

To start, you tell us exactly what you need; the model, parts, custom features or any special requests. We take the time to understand your project fully so the quote we provide covers everything. This ensures no surprises later and helps you plan your budget with confidence.

  • 50% deposit must be paid up front to secure the order

Once you’re happy with the quote, we ask for a 50% deposit to secure your place in the queue. This deposit confirms your order and allows us to allocate resources and materials for your build. It also shows commitment from both sides and helps us manage production effectively.

  • Job is added to the waiting list

After the deposit, your order is placed on our waiting list. This list helps us organise the work and ensure fairness. Depending on how busy we are, this waiting period varies, but we always work to keep things moving as smoothly as possible.

  • On reaching the top 3 of the waiting list the customer is contacted and the 3D printing begins

When your order gets close to the front, typically when it reaches the top three spots, we’ll get in touch. This heads-up lets you know printing will start soon. Because our kits contain detailed and intricate parts, the 3D printing and finishing process takes time and care. We want to get it right. If you want, we’re happy to provide progress updates during this stage so you know how things are developing.

  • Once all parts are ready and packaged the customer is once again contacted

At this point the balance and any shipping costs will then need to be paid. After printing, finishing, quality checks and packing are complete, we’ll contact you again. At this point, the remaining balance plus any shipping fees will need to be settled before we release the package. This step ensures everything is confirmed before your order leaves the workshop.

  • Once the balance has been received the job will then be shipped out with a courier

(Collection in person can also be arranged) As soon as we receive the final payment, we arrange courier delivery to your address. We carefully pack all parts to ensure safe transit. If you prefer, you can also collect the order in person, just let us know, and we’ll set that up.
